GENERAL RULES
General Rules for Participation in Art Olympiad System
This section establishes the principal rules for participation in Art Olympiad System events, including participation formats, Age Categories, number of competition entries, selection of Discipline and Level, requirements for music, costumes, footwear and props, registration procedures, Final Registration Check, technical corrections and program formation.
Detailed definitions of dance disciplines and specific requirements are provided in DANCE DISCIPLINES.
Judging principles, score thresholds, Laureate Degrees, Elite Ranking, Level Transfer and Ranking are presented in JUDGING, LEVELS & RESULTS.
1. PARTICIPATION
PARTICIPATION
Art Olympiad System is open to participants at different stages of training — from the first years of study and the amateur sector to professional education and the professional stage.
Participants may represent:
private ballet and dance studios;
dance schools and clubs;
amateur and community-based dance groups;
ensembles and formations;
groups based at Houses and Palaces of Culture, cultural centers and creative centers;
independent performers;
state-run and private ballet and dance schools;
specialized and professional schools of the arts;
professional ballet schools and other professional educational institutions;
academies and conservatories;
institutes, universities and other higher education institutions in the fields of ballet, dance and performing arts.
Participation takes place at one of the three Levels:
DEBUT · PREMIER · ELITE
Each Level corresponds to a particular stage of training and has its own principle for determining results.
A detailed description of the Levels is provided in ART OLYMPIAD SYSTEM.
2. NOMINATIONS
PARTICIPATION FORMAT
Nomination is determined by the number of performers in a competition entry.
SOLO — 1 performer — max 2:00
DUO — 2 performers — max 2:00
TRIO — 3 performers — max 2:30
SMALL GROUP — 4–7 performers — max 3:00
FORMATION — 8–24 performers — max 4:00
MIX FORMATION — 4–12 performers — Mixed Age — max 4:00
MINI PRODUCTION — 12–24 performers — Mixed Age — max 4:00
BIG PRODUCTION — 25+ performers — Mixed Age — max 6:00
The stated duration is the maximum permitted time.
No minimum duration is established for a competition entry.
3. AGE CATEGORIES
AGE CATEGORIES
BABY — 3–5 years
KIDS — 6–8 years
CHILDREN — 9–11 years
JUNIORS — 12–15 years
ADULTS 1 — 16–19 years
ADULTS 2 — 20–39 years
SENIORS — 40–49 years
GRAND SENIORS — 50+ years
The participant’s date of birth and corresponding Age Category must be entered correctly during registration.
MIXED AGE
Mix Formation, Mini Production and Big Production are Mixed Age Nominations and are not divided into Age Categories.
For Duo, Trio and Small Group entries that include performers from different Age Categories, the Age Category is determined by the oldest performer in the entry.
A performer from an older Age Category may not be registered in a younger Age Category.
A mixed-age Small Group may alternatively be registered as Mix Formation, provided that the number of performers meets the requirements of that Nomination.
Mixed-age formats are available as follows:
MIX FORMATION — 4–12
MINI PRODUCTION — 12–24
BIG PRODUCTION — 25+
4. NUMBER OF ENTRIES
NUMBER OF COMPETITION ENTRIES
There is no limit to the number of competition entries that one participant may register, including within the same Discipline.
The same solo performer may present several different entries within the same:
Discipline + Nomination + Age Category + Level
Each competition entry is evaluated separately and receives its own professional Score and corresponding result.
DEBUT
Each entry receives its own Score, festival result and corresponding award.
PREMIER
Each entry receives its own Score, its own result within the Laureate Degrees system and the corresponding award.
If one performer presents several entries within the same competition category, each entry retains its individual competition result.
For the performer’s further Ranking, Level Transfer and professional advancement, only the performer’s highest Score is taken into account.
ELITE
Each competition entry receives its own Score, its own result and the corresponding award.
If one performer presents several entries within the same:
Discipline + Nomination + Age Category + Level
only the performer’s highest Score is taken into account in the Elite Ranking.
The performer’s other competition entries retain their individual results but do not occupy additional positions for the same performer in the Elite Ranking of that category.
ONE PERFORMER = ONE BEST SCORE IN ELITE RANKING
Detailed score thresholds and rules for determining results are provided in JUDGING, LEVELS & RESULTS.
5. SCORE · PLACE · PROGRESS
A FUNDAMENTAL PRINCIPLE OF THE SYSTEM
Place shows the performer’s position in relation to other participants.
Score shows the professional evaluation of the level of a specific performance.
Progress shows the performer’s development over time.
PLACE SHOWS POSITION.
SCORE SHOWS LEVEL.
PROGRESS SHOWS DEVELOPMENT.
This is one of the fundamental principles of Art Olympiad System.
6. DISCIPLINE & LEVEL
SELECTING DISCIPLINE AND LEVEL
Each competition entry must be registered in the appropriate Discipline and at the appropriate Level.
Responsibility for the correct selection lies with the choreographer, teacher, school director or other person completing the registration.
If there is any uncertainty regarding the appropriate Discipline or Level, clarification should be obtained from the organizers before the main registration deadline.
After the main registration deadline, participant-initiated changes to:
Discipline · Nomination · Age Category · Level
are not permitted.
An incorrect selection after the registration deadline does not give the participant the right to require transfer of the competition entry to another category.
If the Organizing Committee independently identifies an obvious registration or categorization error, it may make an appropriate correction, subject to technical and organizational feasibility.
Such a correction is a right, not an obligation, of the Organizing Committee.
IMPORTANT — POINTE / FOOTWEAR
POINTE WORK AND DISCIPLINE SELECTION
Particular attention must be paid to footwear requirements when registering an entry.
CLASSICAL DANCE / REPERTOIRE — soft ballet shoes, no pointe shoes.
CLASSICAL DANCE / AUTHOR — soft ballet shoes, no pointe shoes.
Performance on pointe is required in:
BALLET / REPERTOIRE DANCE ON POINTE
BALLET / AUTHOR DANCE ON POINTE
CONTEMPORARY BALLET / MODERN BALLET DANCE ON POINTE
A work performed on pointe must not be registered in Classical Dance / Repertoire or Classical Dance / Author.
A work performed without pointe shoes must not be registered in a Dance on Pointe Discipline.
Full definitions of disciplines and footwear requirements are provided in DANCE DISCIPLINES.
7. MUSIC
MUSIC FILE
The music file is uploaded directly during registration.
FILE FORMAT
The registration system accepts only good-quality MP3 audio files.
If a file cannot be uploaded and the system displays an Error, the original audio file must be converted again into a standard MP3 file, saved as a newly created file and uploaded again.
Even if the original file already has the .mp3 extension, it should be reconverted if an upload error occurs.
Simply renaming a file or changing its extension to .mp3 does not constitute file conversion.
FINAL MUSIC CHECK
After all music files have been uploaded, each file must be played and checked directly in the registration system using the playback button.
Please verify that:
the file plays correctly;
the correct music has been uploaded;
the recording starts and ends correctly;
the file corresponds to the correct competition entry;
the duration complies with the applicable time limit.
If the file plays correctly in the registration system and corresponds to the registered entry, it is considered successfully uploaded and submitted to the Organizing Committee.
The registering party is responsible for the final verification of all uploaded music files.
MUSIC RIGHTS & COPYRIGHT
The participant or registering party is responsible for the musical material provided, including any rights, permissions or other lawful basis required for its use.
The Organizing Committee does not conduct advance verification of copyright or related rights for music files submitted by participants.
8. COSTUMES · FOOTWEAR · PROPS
COSTUMES · FOOTWEAR · PROPS
Costumes, stage image, footwear and props must correspond to the selected Discipline and the character of the competition entry.
The use of props must not create a safety risk to participants, audience members, staff, other persons, the stage, equipment or venue property.
Specific footwear and prop requirements for individual disciplines are provided in DANCE DISCIPLINES.
9. REGISTRATION
REGISTRATION
Main registration for a specific Art Olympiad closes 7 calendar days before the event date.
By the registration deadline:
all registration entries must be completed;
all required information must be entered;
all music files must be uploaded and checked;
the prescribed contribution in the form of a donation in support of the Organization’s programs and activities must have been received.
During registration, the following information must be entered correctly:

Discipline;

The submitted information is used for the competition program, results, diplomas and other official documentation.
Before the main registration deadline, the registering party is responsible for checking the accuracy of all submitted information.
The act of registration constitutes acceptance of the Art Olympiad System rules.
Registration is considered complete upon receipt of the prescribed contribution in the form of a donation in support of the Organization’s programs and activities.
If the prescribed contribution has not been received by the registration deadline, the registration is considered incomplete, and the competition entry may be excluded from the final program.
10. AFTER REGISTRATION DEADLINE
AFTER REGISTRATION CLOSES
Once main registration closes, participants can no longer edit their entries independently.
Registration / Entry Numbers and the initial performance order are generated automatically by the system.
A 24-hour Final Registration Check period then begins.
Information regarding the beginning of the Final Registration Check, Registration / Entry Numbers, performance order, deadlines and required actions is sent to the e-mail address used to register the account.
This e-mail address is the official channel for communication with the participant or school.
Participants and registering parties are responsible for monitoring incoming messages, including Spam / Junk folders, particularly after registration closes.
An unread or missed e-mail does not extend the 24-hour Final Registration Check period.
The Final Registration Check is intended for verification and technical corrections and is not an opportunity to change the competition category or reopen registration.
11. FINAL REGISTRATION CHECK
FINAL CHECK AND CORRECTIONS
During the 24-hour period, the following must be checked:
registration information;
participant’s first and last name;
Age Category;
school / group name;
competition entry title;
choreographer information;
Discipline;
Nomination;

list of performers;
music file;

All official requests for corrections are accepted only at:
The request must be sent from the e-mail address associated with the registration account.
Requests made by phone, messaging apps, social media or through personal communication are not considered official requests for changes.
The e-mail must include:
Registration / Entry Number;
school name or individual participant’s name;
competition entry title;
Discipline;
exact description of the requested correction.
After main registration closes, only technical or administrative corrections that do not change Discipline, Nomination, Age Category or Level may be considered.
If an error in Discipline, Nomination, Age Category or Level is discovered during the Final Registration Check, the Organizing Committee must be informed immediately. Any decision regarding such a correction is made exclusively by the Organizing Committee and is not guaranteed.
A request for correction does not create an obligation for the Organizing Committee to make the requested change after the applicable deadline or where the change is no longer technically or organizationally feasible.
12. MUSIC CHANGES & LATE ENTRY
MUSIC REPLACEMENT AND LATE REGISTRATION
Replacement or re-uploading of a music file, as well as other changes after the main registration deadline that require manual administrative or technical intervention, may be possible:
with the approval of the Organizing Committee;
subject to technical feasibility;
after receipt of the prescribed additional contribution in the form of a donation.
Registration of an additional competition entry after the main registration deadline is also possible only with the approval of the Organizing Committee and subject to technical and organizational feasibility.
Such a late entry requires the prescribed contribution for the new competition entry, together with an additional contribution for late administrative and technical processing, both made in the form of a donation.
This rule also applies during the Final Registration Check period.
Late registration and requested changes are not guaranteed.
After the Final Registration Check is completed, the Organizing Committee may fully close acceptance of additional entries and technical changes.
13. COSTUME CHANGE REQUESTS
TIME FOR COSTUME CHANGES
After the initial performance order has been generated automatically, participants have 24 hours to report the need for additional time between competition entries performed by the same performer.
Requests must be sent only to:
and must be sent from the e-mail address associated with the registration account.
SUBJECT

For an individual soloist:
SOLOIST NAME — CHANGING
The e-mail must include:
Registration / Entry Number;
competition entry title;
performer’s name, where necessary;

required costume-change time.
If several performances by the same performer are scheduled consecutively or too close together, this must be clearly stated in the e-mail.
The Organizing Committee primarily identifies entries by Registration / Entry Number and competition entry title.
Requests received within the specified period are taken into account wherever possible.
A specific number of minutes or competition entries between performances cannot be guaranteed.
If the relevant information is not submitted within the 24-hour period, the Organizing Committee is not responsible for performances by the same performer being scheduled too close together.
After this period has ended, the Organizing Committee is not required to make additional changes to the performance order for costume-change purposes.
14. RESPONSIBILITY
RESPONSIBILITY
After the Final Registration Check period ends, all registered information is considered checked, confirmed and accepted by the registering party.
The person or organization completing the registration is responsible for:
the accuracy of registration information;
the correct selection of Discipline, Nomination, Age Category and Level;
the correct music file;
participant and choreographer information;
errors or inaccuracies not reported within the established period.
The Organizing Committee is not responsible for the consequences of errors or inaccuracies that were not reported in time for correction during the Final Registration Check.
The need to make changes after the established deadline does not create an obligation for the Organizing Committee to make such changes.
15. ACCEPTANCE OF THE RULES
